Maryann Byrne Counsellor and Psychotherapist
I qualified in 2012 having trained primarily as a Person-Centred therapist. I am also experienced in other modalities and therapeutic approaches and work as an integrative therapist. I find this approach allows for more flexibility in helping with a variety of difficulties.
I work with clients who present with a range of concerns and for several years I worked at a respected local charity counselling adult survivors of childhood abuse. I am experienced in working with anxiety, trauma, dissociation, and post-traumatic stress, sexual violence and domestic abuse. I also worked as a counsellor within the drug and alcohol services, both at the assessment stage, when clients first enter treatment, and again during during their treatment programme.
I later worked with clients who had completed abstinence programmes and needed support in maintaining their recovery.
Other areas I can help with include depression, loss, bereavement, stress, anger management, relationship breakup and employment issues.
In order to enhance my professional practice I attend regular professional development training, seminars, events and conferences with a particular interest in trauma, dissociation, attachment and neuroscience.
My practice is compassionate and inclusive and as a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Reg. No 075077, I am bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and Professional Standards. I have Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance covering all aspects of my practice. I hold current enhanced DBS, Safeguarding Children, Safeguarding Adult training certificates and Mental Capacity Act training, Diversity and Inclusion, PREVENT training and I am registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) and adhere to the GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Equality Act 2010.
